Nałęczowski Zoo

Description

The black trail (9.71 km long) runs through the town along the following streets: Poniatowskiego, Pałuby, Głębocznica, Morzyckiej, Nowickiego, Kolejowa, Spółdzielcza, Lasockiego, Chmielewskiego (along the ravine), Sołdka, Kombatantów and Kamieniak Streets. It is worth visiting the small Nałęczowski Zoo located near the trail (turn left into Kamieniak Street). The mini zoo features the poultry aristocracy; that is, several dozen varieties of ornamental poultry and peacocks. Colourful parrots, macaws and cockatoos delight the youngest. Furry animals include rabbits, guinea pigs, polecat-ferret hybrids, minks and arctic foxes among others, while larger mammals are represented by Feliński ponies, cows, goats and sheep. However, undoubtedly the biggest stars of the zoo are the emu, nandu and the racoon dog.

The trail then takes you through Chruszczów-Kolonia, Drzewce-Kolonia, Drzewce until Bronice, where the trail joins the “In the Land of Jan Pocek” yellow trail (see more on p. XXX).

The second, blue connecting trail (about 8 km long) runs along Dulębów Street through Strzelce, Czesławice and Ludwinów up to the green trail around the southern part of Garbów County (see more on p. XXX). On the way, it is worth stopping by the very well-preserved and recently renovated Palace in Czesławice and visit the magnificent park surrounding it (the complex is located about 3.5 km away from your current location).

The palace’s origin is connected with the expansion of the Czesławice residence, which took place in the 1880s. This is when the then new owners, the Wernicki family (descending from Wierzynek, treasurer of King Casimir the Great) built a palace here, furnishing the representative residence with lavish. The architectural part was designed by Leonard Marconi. Only the ceramic floor in the lobby, and the corniced vault in the hall with two stucco rosettes have remained of the original design. The palace is surrounded by a landscape park, with an area of 18 ha, designed by Walerian Kronenberg.
