School of Agricultural Training

Description

The history of the school dates back to 1922, when the School of Breeding and Agriculture, offering yearlong courses was established in Irenów near Dęblin. In 1938 it was transferred to Klementowice as the District School of Agricultural Training. During the Nazi German invasion, the courses were resumed in May 1940. The Nazi German authorities gave their permission for the continuation of studies, on the condition that the students would study only trade subjects. Despite these restrictions, the teachers of the time risked their life and also taught literature, history, geography, and acquainted the students with the contemporaneous affairs in the country and the world. Students’ attendance at school protected them from deportations to Germany for forced labour and allowed them to participate in the conspiracy. After the liberation, the school changed its character and name several times. Until 1947 it operated as a two-year School of Breeding and Agriculture, and then as a three-year Middle School of Agriculture. In 1948 it was transformed into the Agricultural-Cooperative High School and then in 1950 – into Technical School of Agricultural Accounting. Trade Agricultural School operated here since 1970, and as of the September of 1973, a three-year Technical School of Agriculture. Four years later, the school was renamed as the School of Agriculture Complex in Klementowice with the branches in Janowiec, Markuszów and Jastków. When in 1997 a new field of study appeared with a degree of technician in agribusiness, the school complex was renamed as the Agribusiness School Complex.
