Fish ponds

Description

 

Located along the Kurówka River, the large fishpond complex, established by Count Jan Jezierski, includes Jasiówka, Julin, Kępa, Wiktoria Dolna, Miesiące, Doły, Numerki, Torf Górny, and Przybysławski Ponds. The ponds boasts rich avifauna with such species as the Ruffs, Little Bitterns, Western Marsh Harriers, White Storks, Common Redshanks, Wood Sandpipers, Northern Lapwings; herons: Great White Herons, Squacco Herons, Small White Herons, Purple Herons and Grey Herons; Tufted Ducks, Hawks, Common Moorhens, Gadwalls, Sparrowhawks, Common Sandpipers, Eurasian Coots, Greater Scaups, Black-tailed Godwits, Little Ringed Plovers, Night Herons, Eurasian Wigeons, Water Rails and endangered Little Crakes. Three species that inhabited or still live in the Garbów ponds have been placed in the Polish Red Book of [Endangered Species of] Animals: the Montagu’s Harriers, Great Bitterns and Bluethroats.
