Volunteer Fire Department Station in Końskowola

Description

The present building of the Volunteer Fire Department Station was erected in the early neo-Classical style in 1775. It is located in the centre of the market square and once served as the Town Hall. It was founded by Prince Aleksander August Czartoryski. The oldest record of the Town Hall in Końskowola dates from 1669. On its original site, the present brick building was erected, covered with a tiled roof and called “New.” It featured a court chamber, while the ground floor was taken by stores. The town hall is the main secular building that forms the town spatial design of Końskowola. Its artistic assets imply that it was designed by one of the professional architects employed at the Prince’s court. In 1960 the town hall was rebuilt and a fire tower was added.
